Remember to check ~ for the future ~ for updates as well!

This is my personal blog. Anything relating to: Music, Video Games, Film, Anime, TV Series, Dramas, and Poetry will be posted on ~ for the future ~.

So lately, things have been going well enough.

I’ve been working M-F 5am – 130pm in Providence hospital’s basement Records section. Us Westaff temps have been assigned to the grand project of auditing old patient record files for destruction. (Sadly, we do not get to do any destroying ourselves…). Can’t say the job is too difficult, but getting those 7 or 8 boxes done a day sure is. Also, the job is hard as the wrists.

Picked up and cashed my first week’s paycheck ystdy (Weekly pay is nice). We celebrated by… PAYING BILLS! Yay! I kissed the whole check goodbye in a matter of minutes. *sigh* And I have more bills to pay with next Friday’s check. :/

At the champagne was good. ^_^

Date Day

That’s right! Dara and I are going on an official date today! ^_^

And also, Chuck-E-Cheese’s for the little Junsei’s 1st year birthday! yeah ya!

I think the title pretty much says it all. =P

I meant to post this during the week but, as you may know, I wasn’t feeling so well.

On Friday night, we all (Dara, her Sis, Bro, and Wife) went to the Bear Tooth and watched the 10:10 showing of Evangelion 1.0. It was an interesting anime, though I wasn’t must into it. The movie prior had run over (that or the cleaning crew did) and we ending up waiting nearly 30 mins just to get inside the viewing room. So long that Spencer’s ice cream melted and dripped over the sides of his plate onto the floor. He called an emergency “eat the shit before it all melts” action and passed out the spoons. I thought it tasted crappy for such expensive ice cream.

On Saturday Dara had to work, so I went with Spence, his wife (Amane) and kids to a mountain spot known as “Flat-Top”. We actually went to the mall and ran some errands, and then at the last minute before returning home, Spence was like “hey, who wants to go the mountain?” And so we did.

The higher we drove up the winding mountain road, the more snow there was. At the top, we parked in the parking lot and walked the 1/4 mile trail up to one of the look-out points. It was nice! My FIRST TIME seeing snow in OVER 5 YEARS. So of course…I WENT NUTS!! I ran around crazily with the oldest boy (Shosei, 3) tossing snow around and building snow people. We even took pics. =D

Before leaving, I dared Spencer to jump down a small yet steep hill with me. We had a blast doing so and were covered in a ton of snow and cold afterwards! XD I built a small snow-head and placed him on the windshield wipers. He made it ALL the way down the mountain road but then flew off once the car hit 50 mph. hahaha!

On Sunday morning, Dara and I went Ice Skating at the Dimond Mall. What fun! This was only my second time skating in my entire life, and my first time since doing so here back in 2006. After nearly two hours of that I was tired and had sore feet. XD

Later we mixed up some choco-chip cookies (the box kind), and DIDN’T burn them! =D Yum! We drank this brand of bear made here in Juneau called “Alaskan”. Yeah! It’s the Alaskan beer! haha! I’ll get a pic of that if you’d like. Then we played some Soul Calibur III on PS2 for a while. Dara and I are such button-mashers! :P

On Monday(?) we got a call from my old friend and Winter Park roommate- Cece! :o OMG! Her and I talked for a while and it was nice. ^_^ I miss that crayz girl!

I rented Midnight Club: Los Angeles for 360. Sadly, I only got to play it for one day (though admittedly for almost 4 hours!) out of the five days I rented it. I gotta say, eventhough I didn’t much like the more realistic handling at first, it really grew on me; after an hour I was driving and winning like a champ! B-D  This game is definitely a buyer! (Hop on my Amazon.com WishList if you’re feeling charitable! *wink* )

Today I watched the first two eps. of The Office… eh um… I don’t get it. haha. It’s just like Dara said! She bet me I wouldn’t like it and, I don’t.

Ok, that’s enough randomness for know. Catch ya all later! And maybe I’ll update my Travel Log again soon. Seems like “daily” is too much to ask for! Oh well. :P

first new job… not so great

Long story short… will be in outline mode:

  • Was in the mall one day and saw a job opportunity sign, so I went it.
  • Fill out an application online at home later and was called for an interview on Monday.
  • Went in Monday and found out that Westaff isn’t really a place to work persay, but a placement center.
  • Was placed into a simple 5-day job delivering garbage and recycling carts (bins) around the city.
  • Showed up to work at 6:45am Tues.
  • Job entailed me, with one teammate, hopping on and off the back of a 26 foot U-Haul truck, dropping off recycling carts.
  • Job took too damn long, going into overtime all the way past 11pm that night.
  • When I got home I was: heavily fatigued, dehydrated, hungry, dizzy, nauseous, and overall weak feeling.
  • The later resulted in my violent purging of one Taco Bell cheese roll-up and half a taco.
  • Had to call into work and cancel. Won’t be doing this kind of job again.
  • I felt like shit for two days and weak for another day (that was yesterday).
  • Have to contact they guy to get paid 12/hr (hopefully plus time-and-a-half overtime).

toilet seats are always cold in Alaska

Haha. Ok, let me explain.

<rant>

So we all live in a trailer that runs mostly using gas power. We have a gas stove and gas heating. Luckily, we have central heating (with grates on the floor that blow hot air out in every room).

Now, I don’t need to state how obviously cold it gets up here. So, having a strong heating system, that will most likely be running ALL Winter long, is a MUST-HAVE for Alaskans.

The temperatures outside are upper 40’s for highs, and around lower 30’s for lows (maybe lower). However, this house is ALWAYS warm, if not HOT. Not to say that I’m sensitive to heat, I mean, I just came from Florida!

No, I don’t have a problem with it being so warm that I don’t even have to use a blanket at night (though I do prefer to have a blanket or a sheet over me for comfort). No no, my problem is when it’s SO hot that I’m actually sweating. SWEATING MAN! It’s midnight, and hear I am in my bed sweating my fat white ass off! >.<

My girl Dara, skinny little thing, seems to usually be cold, so she has no problem at all sleeping in a hot house under the think comforter we have on top the bed. She’s always wanting me to come under the blanket and snuggle with her as we both fall asleep but, I just CAN’T- it’s TOO DAMN HOT! @_@

Moving to Alaska, I knew I’d have to learn to cope with the freezing cold sometimes below Zero weather- with all the SNOW. I was prepared for THAT. But, you know… I wasn’t prepared for the super heater that makes me all sweaty and uncomfortable at night. *sigh*

</rant>

Now about toilet seats. So even with the house being hot- even with the bathroom being hot- the toilet seat is still cold. Wow.

no more warm days

It’s nearly October now, marking the near-end of Fall.  The days here are slowly growing colder and darker, in preparation for the arrival of Winter. Highs are only in the 40’s right now, though it doesn’t quite feel that cold to me yet. Bets are that it’ll flurry a little before September is even out.

we’ve done it again

Today Dara and I went with Susada and Shosei to the Bear Tooth to watch G-Force over hot pepperoni pizza, a cheeseburger, and garlic fries (they really good!).

Afterward we repeated a short roadtrip that we had taken in ‘06. We drove down the Seward Highway all the way to the Glaciers in Portiage (about 30-40 min drive). On the way we stopped by several places along the highway to take pics and breath some of the fresh air (I’ll post some pics later this week). It was a nice day save for…

Today I started getting my first sickness here. Symptoms included sore throat and fatigue. *yawns* Still enjoying a Rolling Rock beer though. haha. Took some cold syrup stuff. Hope that kicks some stuff inside me and makes me feel better (sure makes me feel sleepy. And it’s hot in here!).

Watching James and The Giant Peach with Dara for the first time on DVD. It’s still quite amazing, animation-wise.

PS. Mikerz finally got a copy of Dissidia, so we’re hoping to link up and battle soon! Yay! lol

Happy 14th!

It’s DarTy 49th 14th!

“Here I am (on a day that is sunny)”
~ai no poem~ DarTy 49 – 14Aug09

Here I am
Sitting in your room
Thinking up a poem
To send to you

Here I am
Typing all alone
Wishing you were here
With me at home

Here I am
With love in my heart
I promise next time we hug
I’ll hold in my fart

Here I am
On a day that is sunny
Waiting impatiently
To hug my cute Dara honey

Here I am
One again on the 14th
I’m thinking of you
Still dreaming of me

and just for fun…

here’s Dara! =D

ah, the webcam days…

Sunday Morning

Dara’s off on Sundays, so we like to sleep in (not really though- but we tried). Little Shosei come pounding on the door come 9:30. So we put in Jeff Dunham and laid around for a bit. Then breakfast!

Dara cooked scrambled eggs, sausage, and french toast. Also, I made two cup of noodles and put them in a big pho bowl. It was yummy. ^_^

Back in the room we put together the “epresso” colored shelf we finally found and stacked it atop the “epresso” colored two-drawer dresser. Yay! I placed my YUI poster in this lovely frame we got on sale at Micheal’s yesterday, and hung it on the wall. Looks nice!

Only things left to do is: hang the two small square mirrors on the wall and place the two bags of glow-in-the-dark plastic stars on the ceiling! =D I suppose we could put stuff on the new shelf while we’re at it as well…

Going to the theatre to see Pixar’s UP today. Should be good! I’m a little excited about it. Sadly, Studio Ghibli’s PONYO has exited the main theatres up here. I’m REALLY hoping it comes back around to the second-chance theatres like Bear Tooth. Dara assured me it will. I’m be REALLY sad if I never get to see a Miyazaki film on the BIG SCREEN!! :((

Day 5 (by request)

Today we took care of some business!

1. Opened a bank account at Alaska USA (Dara’s bank).

2. Took one of my new checks, VOIDED it, and used it to get an Alaska State ID card at the DMV. I’ll go and get my new Driver’s License next week.

3. Went to Wal-Mart to develop  the disposable camera  I had on the bus trip here. While waiting the 1-hr for that, Spencer and I checked out the toy section, talked about lots of things, and I also-

4. Got a new handy. This new phone is for LOCAL CALLS ONLY, and emergencies. ALL OTHER CALLS should be placed to Dara’s cell. If you do not have her number, please e-mail me and I will share it will you. (This goes for all my friends. You know who you are!) I might also call some of you from her phone as well. It’s a 907 area code so make sure to pick-up!

The new phone is a tiny and cute little LG. I’m part of the NET 10 now. I get 300 mins & 60 service days for $30. The phone, with 300 mins on it, was only $25. (That’s basically $5 of the 300 mins, plus a free phone! lol).

Now I’m all set up. The next big step is to get a job! *dies*

We picked up Dara’s sister Susada (we all call her Kongy “Gong-gee” here) from the airport late on Tues night. She joined Dara, Spencer & Jen + the children, and I for dinner at the Bear Tooth last night. While waiting for appetizers, I was coloring with Shosei (3 yrs) and accidentally spilled my whole glass of beer on the table and into my lap. X_X My pants, shirt, and even my socks were soaked with cold bear. It was awful! Had to walk ALL THE WAY to the men’s room and paper towel myself to dampness. -_-

On the bright side, ev’one thought this was quite funny, and the dinner food was great! I ordered Halibut fish and garlic chips. It was SOOO good, though I’m not really into the Halibut- much to the shock of Alaskans everywhere. …Their Garlic Chicken Fettuccine was very “watered down” as I described it. I prefer my pastas to be made with a think cheese sauce, not a liquidly olive oil based sauce. Pleh!
